The Sendai Immigration Bureau has jurisdiction over 青森県(Aomori), 岩手県(Iwate), 宮城県(Miyagi), 秋田県(Akita), 山形県(Yamagata), 福島県(Fukushima).

Useful Information Before Your Visit
The Sendai Immigration Bureau is the regional immigration bureau covering all 6 prefectures of the Tohoku (東北) region. The main office is located within the Sendai No. 2 Legal Affairs Joint Government Building in the Gorin area of Miyagino-ku, Sendai. Branch offices are established in major cities throughout the Tohoku prefectures so you do not need to travel long distances.
Directions (to the Main Office)
- JR Sendai Station: About 15 minutes on foot from the east exit (Miyagino exit). Walk straight toward Gorin Park
- Sendai City Subway Tozai Line: Get off at Miyaginohara Station, then about 10 minutes on foot from the south exit
- Sendai City Bus: From the east exit bus terminal at Sendai Station, take a bus toward “五輪(Gorin)” and get off at “Legal Affairs Joint Government Building”
- Car: About 15 minutes from Sendai-Miyagi IC on the Tohoku Expressway. Parking is available on the building premises, but nearby paid parking lots are recommended during busy periods
Tips for Visiting
- Office hours: Weekdays 9:00-12:00, 13:00-16:00 (closed on weekends and public holidays)
- Peak hours: Mondays, the day after public holidays, and morning hours are particularly crowded
- Parking: There is parking on the building premises, but the number of spaces is limited. Please use public transportation when possible

Jurisdiction Area Characteristics
The Tohoku region covers a vast area, so branch offices are established in each prefecture. For the Aomori and Iwate areas, you can use the Aomori Branch or Morioka Branch; for the Akita area, the Akita Branch; for the Yamagata area, the Sakata Port Branch; and for the Fukushima area, the Koriyama Branch. Some branch offices have overlapping jurisdictions, so choose the one nearest to your residence.
